Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

New World Cinema Competition

From 2005 onwards, there will be a new World Cinema Competition at the Sundance Film Festival. As with the Independent Feature Film Competition, the new World Cinema program will be divided into two categories: one for dramatic films, one for documentaries. Two World Cinema juries will also be appointed, and will bestow a Jury Prize on the best film in each category.

The number of films accepted into World Cinema will be reduced slightly (to around 28), however international films that miss out on a competition berth will still be eligible for the Premiere, Park City at Midnight, and Frontier programs.

For a film to be eligible for the World Cinema Competition, it must be produced outside of the USA, and have it's US premiere at Sundance (ideally, world premiere).
